CHENNAI, India - Jan. 21, 2015 - PRLog -- Mr. Sridhar was an auto driver by profession. On the eve of pongal (17.01.2015) while returning from home town, he lost control at a sharp curve. His auto turned turtle and he sustained severe head injury. He was rushed immediately to Kancheepuram Government hospital for initial treatment. Due to the severity of the injury he was asked to be taken for a multi speciality hospital for further management.

He was brought to MIOT International (http://www.miotinternational.com/) the same evening and was rushed to the ICU for further treatment. After thorough clinical examination, Mr. Sridhar was diagnosed with severe Brain Stem injury and the family was informed about the poor prognosis. He was declared brain dead on 18.01.2015 at 10 pm.

Despite the grief the family underwent, they came forward to donate the organs of their beloved to ensure that the others awaiting transplants and with a hope to get a new lease of life have their chance by way of their son. About 6 people who had respective ailments were benefitted by this organ donation.

As per the TNOS (Tamil Nadu Organ Sharing Network) guidelines, the organs were allocated to the following hospitals: Heart, Liver and Kidney to MIOT International and another kidney and both the eyes were given to other private hospitals in Chennai as per the existing patient priority list.

MIOT performed the maiden Heart transplant surgery successfully followed by the Liver and Kidney transplant surgeries (http://miotinternational.com/miot-institute-of-nephrology...). All the three transplant surgeries were done successfully in a single phase and these were made possible only with the support of the state-of-the-art infrastructure, facilities for complex surgeries and holistic care and inter disciplinary coordination from various medical experts.

MIOT Management thanked the family for the noble deed and also the Tamilnadu government and Media for creating the awareness on organ donation and taking this message across different strata of society without restricting to the well-educated and the elite community of the society.
