YUNOMI Launches Tea4two Campaign

TOKYO, Japan - Jan. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Wednesday, January 21, 2015 – Tokyo, Japan – Japanese tea marketplace and brand, YUNOMI (operated by Japanese startup MATCHA LATTE MEDIA KK), announced today the launch of its Tea4two campaign. Dedicating up to a thousand bags of artisanal Japanese tea (sencha, hojicha, genmaicha, gyokuro, etc.) to this unique effort, the campaign requires participants to send for free a 10g packet of tea to a friend in order to receive a free packet themselves. The campaign seeks to spread awareness of artisanal Japanese tea among tea enthusiasts.

Japanese tea, particularly sencha green tea and matcha green tea powder, is a hot trend among health-conscious consumers who are attracted to it for its high antioxidant content and other health benefits. However, the Japanese tea industry, fragmented into tens of thousands of small tea farms, tea factories and tea shops, is often hidden behind the language barrier, allowing tea importers to mark up prices at will.

YUNOMI, based in Japan, has gathered some 60 different small businesses from the Japanese tea industry (family-owned tea farms and factories, historical tea shops, tea ware artisans and wholesalers, etc) and aims to simplify buying directly from Japan. The startup has shipped tea to 58 countries around the world since starting in 2013, and won Tokyo seed accelerator Open Network Lab’s demo day pitch competition in October, 2014.
