AKRON, Ohio - Jan. 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Akron, OH: First Communications LLC is pleased to announce its “Community First” initiative, where local employees lend a helping hand and help raise funds for locally based charities.

This past holiday season, employees at the First Communications Akron office helped Summit County Children Services by purchasing gifts for children participating in the Summit Children “Adopt-A-Child” and “Giving Tree” programs. Employees were also encouraged to donate time and money to these and other local charities.

“We are very grateful for the opportunity to provide a helping hand this past holiday season to locally based charities like Summit County Children Services.  Our people also appreciate the opportunity to give some of their time and sweat to great causes, which is a great benefit for them personally” said Margi Shaw, President of First Communications.  She added that “This program is popular with employees, and we plan on making it a permanent part of our company culture”.

Recently, our Akron team participated in other programs and events for several other worthy local charities, including:

·         Thanksgiving Food Drive – Non-perishable food items were collected by employees at First Communications Akron office and donated to The Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank, a not-for profit organization that helps provide emergency food to neighbors in need.

·         Make-a-Wish Foundation – Employees recently raised funds by participating in the “Walk for Wishes”, and donating the proceeds to Make-a-Wish Foundation Akron.  The funds will be used to grant the wish of children with life threatening medical conditions.

·         Linus Blanket Project – Employees created comforting handmade blankets intended to provide a sense of love, security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. The blankets were provided to patients at Akron Children’s Hospital.
