Chuck Kurt was born in a small town in Iowa. After college he set off to see the country. While working for the postal service, he met the love of his life and fellow animal lover, Debbie.

They gave up their secure but mundane lives, and moved with their three dogs to an off the grid cabin on a remote lake in Minnesota’s north woods. Married on their own lakeshore, they became self-sufficient. Gardening, raising poultry, and cutting firewood was rewarding, but difficult. After designing and installing a solar and wind power system, Chuck was able to continue his writing. Living this simple lifestyle proved ideal in fostering Chucks’ dream of becoming an author.
