A public comment period for the pentachlorophenol registration review case opened in December and is currently accepting comments. You can access it via going to www.regulations.gov and entering the following docket ID into the search field: EPA-HQ-OPP-2014-0653.

This site contains information about the chemical PentaChloroPhenol ( C6HCl5O) is: EPA Hazardous Waste: U242; " FO27" used on utility poles. The chemical is very dangerous and has killed children and is known to cause cancer and birth defects. Please visit the web site and take time to comment about the need to stop the reregistration of this chemical when there are alternatives to Chemical PentaChloroPhenol utility poles. In small towns and villages in America the use of FRP non Chemical composite poles can be used or simply bury the utility lines could be offered as a solution rather than placing this chemical in the pathway of citizens and children. The United States can not continue to place hundreds of thousands of Chemcial Utility Poles as a solution to carry electicity and other utility services.
