Derby business owner gone full circle in supporting Sporting Futures 3k event

DERBY, U.K. - Jan. 19, 2015 - PRLog -- Sporting Future’s are aiming for their 3k event, sponsored by Firefly Photography on Friar Gate in Derby, to be the most well attended in recent history however this isn’t the first time Firefly’s Company Director, James Corbett, has run the event.

Photos, taken by the Derby Telegraph, dating back to the early 90’s have been found showing James, with his brother and friends, running the 3k event which has become an iconic race within Derby. “It’s really strange to see” explains James Corbett. “I never thought, at that stage, that I would be able to support an a charity in such a way as we are today by sponsoring the 3k event.” Firefly Photography is the official sponsor for the Sporting Futures 3k event due to be run on Sunday 19 April as part of the Derby 10k event.

“I ran the 10k last year for a personal weight loss goal and didn’t expect to enjoy it.” James explained. “Derby has a supportive atmosphere and it’s really good to be able to help communities, in and around Derby, that are running the 3k event this year.” Besides sponsoring the event and supporting the Sporting Futures charity Firefly Photography is offering their gift experiences to community groups who have five or more runners joining in with the 3k race.

“The gift experience vouchers are there for community groups to use to boost funds” explains Kirsty Johnson, Studio Manager at Firefly Photography. “Those with five or more runners can choose whether to use the gift experience to raffle off or to use it as an incentive for the highest fundraiser to win, for example. The Firefly team are really proud to be the leading, independent, photographic portrait studio in Derbyshire for gift experiences and to be able to build on this in a way which gives back to the Derby community is great.”

“The 3k fun run is an important part of the 10k day and its fantastic news that Firefly have decided to sponsor the event this year. Last year we had just under 1000 runners take part on the day. This year with Firefly’s support we are aiming to get well over 1000 runners to make the event the biggest yet for our Charities 21^st anniversary year” Sarah Clarke from Sporting Futures.

Firefly Photography will be sponsoring the 3k event in 2015, which aims to be a fun run for families and community groups. “We meet lots of different people in the studio who come in for photo shoots, many with personal reasons and use their photo experience as a way to achieve a goal whether that be a weight loss goal, or something much more personal. I’m proud of the reputation we have of being able to look after people and the Sporting Futures event of believing and achieving really does suit the running event along with the ethos of Firefly Photography.”
