Recontextualizing the golden age of house music, Dorian Miche AKA Cherokee is at the forefront of the latest French Touch wave. Having toured worldwide, remixed the likes of Amerie, Mika, Daft Punk, and gaining attention from key tastemakers such as EARMILK, CHEROKEE has been making tremendous waves in the music scene.

Earlier this year CHEROKEE released his new single – ‘Teenage Fantasy’ which was quickly picked up by CLASH, being praised for his illuminating and blissful house flair.

As a prominent artist in the Roche Musique roster, home to the likes of Darius, FKJ and Kartell, CHEROKEE is offering up the aforementioned single from the EP via the Paris-based imprint.

Departing as a duo and continuing as a one-man act Cherokee is writing music with a heritage far beyond its years, with the ‘American Spirit EP’ and hit-single ‘Don’t Matter’ tracking thousands of summer-romances.

Cherokee draws influence from artists like Daft Punk, Sébastien Tellier and the Motor City Drum Ensemble, delivering a crossover of thumping electro and smooth French Touch. His production is clean, subtle and lives up to the production excellence expected from Roche Musique. Whilst Breakbot may be the iconic figure behind the trend, Cherokee is proving to be a rival for fresh, seductive beats.

His sound has stretched far and wide, performing at venues like Wanderlust, Social Club (Paris) & Output (Brooklyn) and has shared the stage with big names like Brodinski, Moon Boots, Digitalism, Dusky, to name a few. With the thousands of fans, the millions upon millions of plays and a new EP on the way, we’re entering the next chapter in the emblematic story that is French Touch, with Cherokee as it’s leading actor.

‘Dakota’ is upfront and vibrantly funky. It begins with a playful synth melody that gently rises. An infectious, melodic bass line kicks in just before the track blossoms into a colourful, blissful dance track. Synth melodies glide effortlessly over the top whilst rhythms dance with surprising lightness. It succeeds in creating a euphoric atmosphere that encapsulates the listener. ‘Dakota’ is lively, illuminating and oozes the vibrant, catchy grooves that Roche Musique has become known for.
