MMA Legend Bas Rutten Iconici MMA Interview

DENVER - Jan. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Iconici MMA host Laura Kelley caught up with MMA Legend Bas Rutten at the Open House for Ludwig Martial Arts official home of Bang Muay Thai in Broomfield, CO.

Laura asked Bas about his friendship with Duane Ludwig along with his thoughts on the Jon Jones controversy, Bas upcoming movie projects that we should look out for, his view on bullies and more. Check out the interview.

A little info about our guest. Bas Rutten started competeing in Muay Thai Kickboxing at age 20.  He began his professional mixed martial arts career with the Pancrase organization in Japan. In 1993, He is a world-renowned mixed martial artist who has also made a name for himself outside the ring as an actor, host, and television personality.

Rutten is a former three-time King of Pancrase World Champion and UFC Heavyweight Champion. Born and raised in Holland, his devotion to martial arts began after sneaking into a movie screening of Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon. First known as a devastating stand up striker with 11 career wins by knockout, Rutten also dominated with 14 wins by submission and went undefeated in his final 22 fights.

As a professional fighter, one of his favorite tactics was the liver shot (both punch and kick), and he popularized its use in MMA. Rutten is known for his charisma and has capitalized on his celebrity status since retiring from fighting. Bas has worked as a color commentator in several MMA organizations, including Pride, and has appeared in numerous television shows, movies, and video games. He also coaches MMA and has authored several instructional materials.

As an actor Rutten can be seen next summer co-starring in the Kevin James feature film Here Comes the Boom. Rutten previously appeared in Paul Blart: Mall Cop and lent his talents to the voice cast of Zookeeper .

Rutten is the co-host of the weekly MMA news program Inside MMA on HDNet, and he can be seen this fall hosting the self-defense show Punk Payback for Fuel TV. Rutten has provided color commentary for several fight organizations including the former Pride Fighting Championships.
