VAIL, Colo. - Jan. 17, 2015 - PRLog -- Performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) are used by athletes of various ages abd ability levels.  The use of PEDs is advantageous to athletes because they promopr hypetrophy, reduced recover time and improved power.

For the first time performance enhancing drug use by sport has been made available in a simple, easy to read infographic.  The major findings are that PED use is high among children, adolescents and high school athletes.  PED use is also high for cyclists, powerlifters and bodybuilders.  Interestingly, PED use among National Football League and Major League Baseball players was similar to that of high school athletes at 9%.  Among professional athletes, cyclists, powerlifters and bodybuilders appear to use performance enhancing drugs at a higher rate.

Research also shows that prevalence of performance enhancing drug use to be high among youth athletes and sometimes overestimated in professional/elite populations.
