Top restaurant offering amazing savings

GATESHEAD, U.K. - Jan. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- THE North’s Curry King is going it alone after discovering he can’t be part of special promotion…because his restaurant has the wrong postcode.

Avi Malik’s award-winning Raval Luxury Indian Restaurant is located at the southern end of Newcastle’s iconic Tyne Bridge.

And although that’s just a short stroll from the city centre, it’s enough to exclude it from officially participating in NE1’s Restaurant Week.

The annual promotion, staring today (January 19), sees restaurants across Newcastle upon Tyne offering special deals costing between £10 and £15 per person. And at Raval that means savings of up to 46% off its award-winning A La Carte menu.

Raval – named Best Restaurant in the North East at the British Curry Awards – is offering two dishes for just £15...and it is extending the offer until the end of the month!

The restaurant is actually located closer to Newcastle city centre than some of the participating establishments, but its Gateshead postcode prevents it from any official involvement.

Mr Malik said: “Restaurant Week gives food lovers the opportunity to sample dishes at top restaurants that might normally be a touch too expensive for them.

“As a luxury Indian restaurant attracting discerning diners, we certainly fall into that category, so it’s a shame we don’t qualify for the promotion.

“So, as we are every bit as close to the city centre as some of promotion’s official participants, I have decided to offer a similar deal to Raval customers…but I’m extending it for TWO weeks!”

And Mr Malik is calling on other restaurants in Gateshead to follow his lead.

He added: “Restaurant Week is a great idea, so why should it be confined to the north side of the river?

“I see no reason why Gateshead establishments cannot get involved under their own steam.”
