Lake Pointe Medical Center Recognized by Joint Commission

DALLAS - Jan. 14, 2015 - PRLog -- Lake Pointe Medical Center (http://www.lakepointemedical.com/en-US/Pages/default.aspx) (LPMC), based in Rowlett, Texas, has been recognized by the Joint Commission (http://www.jointcommission.org/), a leading accreditor of health care organizations in America, as one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures for the fourth consecutive year. LPMC is one of only five hospitals in the state of Texas and the only hospital in the DFW area to be recognized for four years in a row in the following categories: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia and surgical care.

In order to be recognized as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by the Joint Commission, the hospital must meet all eligibility criteria, which requires the hospital to achieve 95 percent or above on all reported accountability measures, 95 percent or above performance on every reported accountability measure with at least 30 denominator cases, and contain at least one core measure set with a composite rate of 95 percent or above for the 2013 calendar year. If all criteria are met, the hospital has displayed excellent performance on an evidence-based process of care measures.

Lake Pointe Medical Center is one of 1,244 hospitals being honored for its exemplary work during the 2013 calendar year. Out of those hospitals, 24 percent are rural, 58 percent are non-profit, 27 percent have between 100 and 300 beds, 7 percent are classified as major teaching hospitals and 5 percent are critical access hospitals. The Joint Commission launched the program to encourage hospitals to improve their performance on accountability measures and to honor hospitals displaying quality and proficient care.
