Data Security Expert Launches IT Consulting Firm

SARASOTA, Fla. - Jan. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Sarasota, FL (1/12/15) – Data security expert Dr. Bennet Hammer has launched Hammer IT Consulting, an information technology (IT) consulting firm that provides services designed to reduce data breaches and improve overall corporate security. Based out of Southwest Florida, the firm will deliver a variety of unique IT consulting services to companies throughout the United States.

“This is a void that needed to be filled,” Hammer said. “While other IT consultants are concentrated exclusively on data protection, we’re focusing on the bigger picture: social media security, regulation and compliance and reputation management. These should be components of every company’s data security plan, and our plan is to provide it to them.”

The firm will offer services such as a social media security assessment, designed to detect any bad social media practices on the part of a company or its employees; social engineering testing, which identifies whether company use of social media is opening up the organization to malicious digital attacks; and reputation management, which spots negative brand associations online and gently removes it from search engines. “Reputation management is a service rarely offered by data security providers,” Hammer said. “We’re changing that, and it can only make the companies who take advantage of it more secure.”

Hammer IT Consulting will also offer development and implementation of social media security policies so that companies can protect themselves from the fallout of allowing employees to use social media for business communication. “Only 12% of businesses have a social media policy,” said Hammer. “Considering that 35% of current viruses can be attributed to social media, that’s a frightening reality.
