Presence and Importance of Associations in our Lives

We enrolled ourselves because we wanted to or we became part of it as it was task or were asked to do it. Our reasons are just one aspect of it, but what is more important is that we were part of a large group, a group which had some reason or purpose. There we met with other students with same interests, same passion. We networked, purposely or unknowingly. This is more or less the outline or the overall picture of an association we see around ourselves.

Associations are groups, of individuals and sometimes entities, which are formed for some reasons and purposes. These associations are generally formed voluntarily; however, there are also associations where people can be asked to become members to serve the objectives better. As we said, these are formed for some purposes, so the associations have their objectives and missions. These missions and objectives are one of the key aspects of the associations and also very unique to every association, which can differentiate it from other similar associations. These are also called by various names, like clubs, federations, councils, organizations, groups, etc., and these are present in all fields ranging from sports to studies, from home to profession and various other areas. Associations are everywhere. Every sport has an association, and in sports associations are usually formed and named as federations like football federations, hockey federations, etc.

The other aspect which distinguished these associations is their geographical reach. Again if we take the example of any sport association, these would be at different levels. For any sport like hockey, table tennis or football there would be many associations for a city, there would be one or even more associations for each city, and then one for a state. For every country there are then associations or bodies covering the sport of that country. Finally, there are international associations, federations or bodies for different sports.

Associations are for various professions and professionals such as marketing and finance professionals, for journalists, artists and designers; and for employees of various organizations, government departments, ministries, offices there are associations. Labor unions of several manufacturing organizations and factories are all associations.

These associations help people in professional fields, in sports, hobbies, interests and are even a good platform for meeting like minded people. Being involved in some association of our interest and which represents our hobbies, our passion, or even profession can teach us many new things, making us more aware and opening up a whole new world for us.
