Jan. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- Since the inception of recorded history, animals have portrayed an important role in the lives of mankind. They have been commemorated with hand paintings on cave walls, and topics of heroism in books and movies. There are countless stories depicting the unique bond between animals and humans, with varied roles: that of friend, companion, protector, comforter, and more. The dynamic interaction with animals has significantly shaped mankind’s world today.

During the entire month of February, the esteemed Animals in Art Show at Seaside Art Gallery celebrates animals while helping to create a better world for animals. A portion of proceeds from the sale of any item featuring an animal in the gallery from February 1st – 28th, 2015, will be donated to the local SPCA to benefit animals. Pieces in the Animals in Art Show can be seen and purchased both in the gallery and online.

Melanie Smith, owner of Seaside Art Gallery loves animals, and brings her passion for art and animals together in the gallery’s Animals in Art Show. The annual fundraising event features the works of nationally acclaimed and local artists.

Hundreds of original works of art display animals in all art forms. From original paintings and animation art, to jewelry and sculptures, and more. “We are pleased to bring this extraordinary event to our community again this year.  It is rewarding to bring the fine works of these artists together celebrating the art of our furry, feathered, four and two legged creatures, and have the honor of working with our local SPCA to help supply some of the needs of these animals,” says Smith.

A special reception for the Animals in Art Show will be held at Seaside Art Gallery on Thursday February 5th, 2015 from 5:30pm to 7pm. Refreshments will be served and the reception is open and free to the public.

The local SPCA provides safe shelter, a loving environment and temporary housing for lost, stray or abandoned domestic animals in the communities in Dare county. The non-profit organization reunites lost pets with their owners, rescues animals from abuse, and implements proactive adoptive and humane education programs.
