South Florida Production Company Modernizes Edgar Allan Poe in New TV Drama

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. - Jan. 13, 2015 - PRLog -- What if Poe was alive today instead of the early 19^th century?  A South Florida based company called Poe The Series LLC, is bringing Edgar Allan Poe back to life with a new TV Drama title “Poe The Series”. Named after the legendary author and poet, the series takes place in modern day New York City and retells Poe’s story; part truth, part fiction, and entirely unexpected.

Poe is a brilliant young man born with the gift of prose.  However, his brilliance is shadowed by a mysterious supernatural curse that challenges his very existence.   Throughout the series, viewers will go on a journey with Poe as he battles his inner demons, grieves for the loss of his true love Virginia, and struggles to find the origins of the curse that wants to destroy him.

Early on, viewers will discover that Poe is a journalist and blogger with a mystical ability to investigate cases. He is also a war veteran with PTSD that suffers violent migraine headaches. Making his life even worse is his love for the bottle.  Deeply flawed and afflicted, Poe seeks the help of various characters throughout the series to help him further understand himself and the world around him.

About Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe (January 19, 1809- October 7, 1849) was one of literature's most pioneering authors, poets, and literary critics. He is credited for inventing the detective storytelling method as well as laying down the foundation for the science fiction genre.  After being abandoned by his father, and the death of his mother, Poe went to live with another family. Life for him during those years was turbulent. In 1835, a then 26-year-old Poe married his 13-year old cousin Virginia Clemm.  He experienced a lot of success with his writing during this time. However, when Virginia later died of tuberculosis a few years later, Poe quickly started falling into a deep depression and lost himself in alcohol. On October 3, 1849, Poe was found on the streets in a state of distress by a man walking by. He died a few days later at Washington Medial College.
