MACON, Ga. - Jan. 12, 2015 - PRLog -- Vein Specialists of the South is hosting a free vein education and evaluation event at their Macon, GA practice where they will offer catered lunch to all who make an appointment.

The health care event will be held on Wednesday, January 21, from 11am-2pm, in an effort to raise awareness of venous disease and vein care for all ages, as well as highlight the importance of wearing compression garments during pregnancy to prevent varicose veins.

Attendees will hear Dr. Kenneth Harper, owner of Vein Specialists of the South, as he discusses venous disease prevention, treatment and evaluations while enjoying a complimentary lunch.

During the event, attendees will also receive a complimentary venous evaluation to determine their risk factors for venous disease, such as varicose veins, blood clots, venous ulcers and spider veins.

The event is expected to be a regular occurrence at VSS in Macon, allowing the vein practice to provide free educational services to the community to raise awareness of venous disease, especially in young mothers.

“We see a lot of older people who are in the advanced stages of venous disease,,” said Vein Specialists of the South owner Dr. Kenneth Harper. “Our goal now is to raise awareness among the high-risk younger populations, particularly women in their childbearing years or who wear high-heels 5 days per week.”

Dr. Harper and his team have set-up a Facebook event so that locals can easily find information about the event and RSVP while also finding valuable online resources on their social media spaces and website.

“It’s important to catch the early signs of venous disease in the younger population while reducing the risks through solid prevention methods,” said Leslie Fortson, practice manager at Vein Specialists of the South. “With advanced screening, we can help prevent serious venous disease and life threatening blood clots that can form from something as simple as a prescription medication or a shift in bodily hormones.  If we saw more patients in their 30s and 40s, we’d prevent much of the serious venous disease we see in our practice.”
