Entertainment Pioneer Christopher “Play” Martin is on a Mission to Bring Balance Back to Media

In an era where news headlines and music chart toppers are flooding our cellphones, computers, radios and televisions with demoralizing messages, Martin and a dynamic team of college students, community volunteers, and talented multi-media journalists are working around the clock to bring balance back to media with the groundbreaking news organization Brand Newz.  Staying true to its slogan “Hip Hop Has A New Direction,” Brand Newz focuses on telling inspiring and empowering stories about people from all walks of life, from Hip- Hop artists giving back to the community, to everyday people who volunteer their time and talents to make a difference in the lives of others.   Brand Newz cleverly uses video, social media and blog-inspired posts to deliver its messages and to creatively carry out the founding principles of Hip Hop – promoting peace, love, unity, and the celebration of life. The campaign will help support Brand Newz operations, community initiatives and educational programs, such as internships and scholarships.  The campaign kicked-off on January 1, 2015 to inspire others to seek a new perspective from the media and entertainment industry in the New Year. For Martin, the painful experience was anything but an accident. During his recovery, his time was spent praying, reading and reflecting. What he saw on the news was disappointing and awakened him to the reality that the stories being told by mainstream media were filled subjective reporting and misconceptions that served the purpose of dividing and discouraging people, 
instead of unifying and uplifting them.
