George Noory to Appear in Del Rio, Texas
DEL RIO, Texas - Jan. 8, 2015 - PRLog -- Following high praise for a similar event last year, the city of Del Rio, Texas, is once again hosting a “UFO Festival” with some of the world’s best known speakers on the topic of UFOs and the paranormal. Featuring appearances by George Noory, Jim Marrs, Nick Pope, Ruben Uriarte, Noe Torres, and David Bennett Carren, the Del Rio UFO Festival will be held on January 23 & 24, 2015, at the Paul Poag Theater, 746 S. Main Street. Sponsored by the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, the two-day event, which includes a costume contest, live music, vendor exhibits, and more, costs $30 to attend, and tickets are available at AmistadLife.com. More information about the Festival is available at DelRioUFO.com.

Keynote speaker George Noory is considered one of the world’s leading spokesmen in the field of UFOs and the paranormal. Listened to by millions of people on over 500 radio stations, Noory has been called “the undisputed king of late night talk radio.” The popular host of the nationally-syndicated show “Coast to Coast AM,” Noory has maintained a lifelong interest in unidentified flying objects, which is a recurring theme on his program. Noory has also co-written three books, Worker in the Light, Journey to the Light, and Talking to the Dead.

At the Del Rio UFO Festival, Noory will moderate a panel discussion on UFOs, giving audience members a chance to ask questions about anything related to the phenomenon. The panel discussion is on Saturday, January 24, at 10:30 a.m. Later on the same day, at 4 p.m., Noory will give a brief talk about his own experiences, followed by a meet and greet session with the audience.

Also appearing at the Festival will be bestselling author and renowned conspiracy theorist Jim Marrs. On Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Marrs will speak about his latest book, Our Occulted History: Do the Global Elite Conceal Ancient Aliens?, which argues that recent archaeological discoveries and well-documented geological data support the notion that human civilization originated from extraterrestrials. The book also suggests that advanced civilizations, human or otherwise, have made Earth their home long before recorded history.

Marrs will also speak about another topic for which he is widely known, the John F. Kennedy assassination.  His book Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy has received critical acclaim and reached the New York Times Non-Fiction Best Seller list in 1992. It became a basis for the Oliver Stone film JFK, for which Marrs served as a chief consultant. Marrs will present his JFK assassination lecture on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Another featured speaker, Nick Pope, held the unique job of being the British government’s top UFO researcher during his 21-year career with the Ministry of Defense. Holding the highest top-secret clearance regarding UFOs, Pope says he went from being a skeptic to being a believer after seeing all the evidence that crossed his desk. Because of his secret government investigations into the paranormal, Pope has been called “the real Fox Mulder,” a reference to the fictional hero of the X Files television series. Now retired, Pope is one of the world’s top speakers on UFOs and the paranormal. On Saturday at 4 p.m., Pope will speak about his latest book Encounter in Rendlesham Forest: The Inside Story of the World’s Best-Documented UFO Incident. The book reveals the latest information about a famous UFO “close encounter of the second kind” that occurred at a U.S. Air Force base in England in 1980.

In addition to his Rendlesham talk, Pope will also give a presentation on Friday at 6 p.m. titled “The Real X Files,” in which he will discuss recent releases of formerly top secret government documents that seem to verify the existence of unidentified flying objects.

Also speaking will be Texas author Noe Torres and California UFO researcher Ruben Uriarte, whose 2008 book The Other Roswell: UFO Crash on the Texas-Mexico Border tells the story of a reported UFO crash in the 1950s near Del Rio. The book, based on the recollections of retired U.S. Air Force Reserve Colonel Robert B. Willingham, claims that a flying saucer fell to the ground near the Rio Grande River in the area of Langtry and that it was recovered by the U.S. military. World-renowned UFO investigator Dr. Bruce Maccabee calls the case “One of the world’s most interesting UFO crash retrieval stories.”

It was the publication of this book that inspired the creation of the first Del Rio UFO Festival in 2014. Torres and Uriarte, who have spoken about the case on numerous TV and radio shows, will present the latest findings on the Willingham case at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Poag Theater.

Science fiction has contributed greatly to humanity’s quest to find intelligent life elsewhere in the universe, and the Del Rio UFO Festival acknowledges this by featuring Star Trek, Twilight Zone, and Stargate writer David Bennett Carren. In addition to co-writing one of the most critically-acclaimed episodes of the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation “Future Imperfect,” Carren has directed, written or produced more than 200 films and television shows. He has also written a science fiction novel titled No Power on Earth.

Among Carren’s cherished memories from his long career in Hollywood is having worked with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, the original Captain Kirk (William Shatner), and Next Generation cast members including Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner. In his presentation at the Poag Theater on Friday at 4:30 p.m., Carren will tell of his experiences working with the various science fiction TV and film projects in which he has been involved.

In addition to the UFO lectures, the Del Rio UFO Festival weekend features a number of other events and activities, including an alien costume contest, a live concert by El Bandito and the Lounge Lizards, food booths, vendor exhibits, author book signings, and more.
