FREE Healthcare Enrollment Fair presented by Health Alliance Plan

DETROIT - Jan. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Inaugural HealthCare-O-Rama to Focus on Health & Wellness for Young Adults and Small Business Owners

January 24 event to be sponsored by HAP

DETROIT, January 7, 2015 – Friends of Detroit & Tri-County (FODTC) has announced that Health Alliance Plan (HAP) will serve as the Presenting Sponsor of its inaugural HealthCare-O-Rama event on Saturday, January 24th, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the General Lectures building on the main campus of Wayne State University.  The event is free and open to the public.

HealthCare-O-Rama is a health care fair designed to educate a variety of audiences – particularly individuals 18 – 25 years old, entrepreneurs and small business owners – about health care plans and options that are available to them through local health care companies and healthcare.gov.  It will also provide education related to nutrition, fitness and early-detection health screenings.

“We are excited to partner with Health Alliance Plan, a Detroit-based health insurance company,” said Michael Wimberley, executive director, Friends of Detroit & Tri-County.  “This event will bring people in contact with the resources they need.  As more people gain access to health care, we hope to see less suffering.  This event is designed to make it easier for people to get the care and coverage they need.”

HealthCare-O-Rama will feature free health screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol, body mass index and blood glucose levels.  A host of healthy living vendors will offer cooking demos, fitness sessions, information on holistic health methods, expert nutritional advice and more.  Navigators and insurance professionals will be available to answer questions and help attendees enroll in a 2015 health plan before the Open Enrollment deadline of Feb. 15.
