Christmas Special Creating Record Sales

VALDOSTA, Ga. - Jan. 7, 2015 - PRLog -- Most people don’t need any extra incentive when it comes to shopping during the holiday season, but they could certainly use some help trying to decide just what they should be buying their loved ones for Christmas gifts. One local jeweler is making that decision-making process a little easier for their clients by offering a Christmas special on all of their fine jewelry, including Christmas jewelry and religious jewelry. The response has been more overwhelming than they have expected.

“It’s already our busiest time of the year, even ahead of the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, but we are seeing even more people than ever this holiday season,” said Dan Ellis, owner of Ellis Jewelers. “What a lot of our customers are telling us when they come in is that they were looking for something special, but hadn’t been considering jewelry until they heard about our Christmas special.”

Ellis said that, for the most part, jewelry purchases aren’t an annual event, but rather reserved for momentous occasions – marriage proposals, anniversaries, first holidays spent as a couple. However, he also noted that many people are finally starting to feel confident financially after the recession and recovery and they feel this is a good time to look for something they ordinarily wouldn’t think about.

On top of the special prices and services that are being offered, one of the major selling points to giving out Christmas jewelry as a gift is that it is something people will use annually for years to come. A more general type of jewelry gift might be worn for a while, or brought out only once in a great while, but a holiday themed piece of jewelry will become just as important a part of the decorations as candles in the window and a tree in the corner.

Another shift in trends that is helping drive sales to record levels this year is a desire for people to be more open in expressing their faith. Ellis said their collection of religious jewelry, which usually accounts for a steady but slight percentage of annual sales, has shown tremendous growth over previous years. Most surprisingly is that the growth has been for both men’s and women’s pieces of jewelry. “The catch phrase has always been ‘Remember the reason for the season,” Ellis added, “and it seems like people are really focusing on that this year.”
