MALIBU, Calif. - Jan. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- Guidance Aviation provides helicopter flight training and ground school instruction from a modern facility in Prescott (elevation 5,045 ft.). The company was founded in 1998 and it is one of only two FAA-approved high altitude helicopter training facilities in the country. The core of the Guidance Aviation program is ‘flight cost reduction training’, which enables Guidance to train better pilots with less actual flying time and with a twenty-five percent reduction in cost to students. This is accomplished through the use of Redbird FMX flight simulators — state-of-the-art training devices which offer 160 degrees of wraparound visuals and have fully-enclosed cockpits that allow students and their instructors to fly real-world scenarios.

John Stonecipher the CEO of Guidance Aviation was interviewed at the Los Angeles Moving America Forward News Studio by William Shatner and Doug Llewelyn. In the interview Mr. Stonecipher, who has been training pilots for over 20 years shared his passion on how both him and his team at Guidance Aviation can train individuals with zero experience to become a professional helicopter pilot in less than 24 months. Mr. Stonecipher added “Our goal is to have every student graduate ready to be a helicopter pilot. We have not done our job unless our students are successfully placed in the industry.”

Learning how to fly a helicopter is very expensive and the teaching model has always been about getting into the helicopter to teach. Believing there was always a more efficient process, Stonecipher started his own company in order to realize the vision that he started with two decades ago. That vision included reducing the cost of training to make it more affordable for more students. Guidance secured Sallie Mae student aid financing in 1999. The company also began working with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Prescott campus in 2003 to offer one of the most comprehensive helicopter academic programs in the nation.

Ruth Collins the Senior producer of Moving America Forward,  found Guidance Aviation a perfect fit for the show stating, “Guidance is leading the way with new and innovative approaches to generating business, jobs and tax revenues — all while proudly serving our U.S. Military Veterans who need career training to enter the civilian job market. That is exactly why the team choose Guidance to be honored with the Moving America Forward Award”.
