Follow on Google News | Sweet Dreamzzz serves preschoolers in Farmington Community School Head StartThe program will serve all 177 Farmington Head Start/Great Start children, and will begin in the classrooms on January 12. In addition to working with the children in the Head Start program, Sweet Dreamzzz will also be working with their parents. A Parent Sleep Education Workshop™ is set to take place on Friday, Jan. 9. The sponsors of this program are: Farmington/Farmington Hills Foundation for Youth & Families, the Farmington/Farmington Hills Education Foundation, the Xemplar Club of Farmington/Farmington Hills and Thornton & Grooms. Sweet Dreamzzz, Inc., a non-profit organization, educates at-risk children and their families on the importance of sleep and gives them bedtime essentials so they can feel rested and ready to learn. The Early Childhood Sleep Education Program is a two-week, in-school program that includes a sleep kit and classroom enrichment activities. The structure behind this program helps preschoolers, their parents, and their teachers work together to ensure these children are getting the sleep necessary to learn effectively. The Parent Sleep Education Workshop equips parents with sleep education and at-home tools to reinforce the lessons their children will be receiving in the classroom during their two-week program. The organization began its work with Farmington Community School on December 19th when Director of Sleep Programs, Ann Raftery, hosted a workshop for the educators at Farmington Community School, teaching them how the program works and setting them up with classroom supplies including a teacher guide, classroom presentation kit, and classroom posters. Since its inception in 1998, Sweet Dreamzzz has been able to serve over 42,000 children with sleep education. For information on how you can help by volunteering or organizing collections for Sweet Dreamzzz, or to find out about getting one of the sleep programs at your school, call the office at 248-478-3242 or visit www.SweetDreamzzz.org.
