DURHAM, N.C. - Jan. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- MORRISVILLE, North Carolina – Jan. 6, 2015 – Orangetheory Fitness, the heart-rate based energizing group interval fitness concept, is excited to announce its annual six-week Weight Loss Challenge for 2015. Members of Orangetheory Fitness Morrisville and Chapel Hill studios, along with Orangetheory Fitness members across the country, will not only transform their bodies, but will also compete for the chance to win cash prizes. One male and one female winner from each Triangle studio will have the chance to win $500 cash. Additionally, the top male winner and the top female winner in the nation will each receive $10,000 cash.

The annual Weight Loss Challenge kicks off Jan. 15 and ends Feb. 26 at participating studios. There is a $25 entry fee and initial weigh-ins take place Jan. 12 through 14. Both the Morrisville and Chapel Hill studios are accepting a limited number of participants, so those interested in competing should sign up as soon as possible.

“Last year we saw major transformations during the Weight Loss Challenge and it’s great to see everyone encouraging each other along the way,” said Orangetheory Fitness local franchise owner Kristie Shifflette. “The best part is watching people discover what their bodies are capable of that they never dreamed possible. The Challenge ultimately comes down to the individual’s success and we simply enable you to achieve a new found you. While there are two winners and cash prizes, we believe every person that participates in the Challenge is a winner in the end.”

Last year’s Weight Loss Challenge local winners in Morrisville were Barry Swanner, who lost a total of 39 pounds, and Kathy Knapp, who lost 27 pounds. This will be Chapel Hill’s inaugural competition as the studio just opened its doors this past October.

Weight Loss Challenge participants must attend a minimum of three 60-minute Orangetheory Fitness sessions per week (no more than one class per day), with the goal of showing the greatest improvement over the course of the contest. There will be mid-point weigh-ins and pictures taken before, during and after the competition. Final weigh-ins and pictures will be taken Feb. 25 and 26. At the end of the challenge, a celebration will be held at the two participating Triangle locations to announce the male and female winners, determined by percentage of weight loss throughout the six weeks.

Members can sign-up for the Weight Loss Challenge by talking to the front desk staff at their home studio. Non-members must join and register by Jan. 12 to participate.
