RALEIGH, N.C. - Jan. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- In the eighth year, the Carolina Music Awards is facing big steps for the July 18th show, held at the Duke Energy Performing Arts Center. First is the launch of the first compilation album of past year’s awards winners, working with CBM Records. More important is the second step of starting the cycle of nominations and voting. For the eighth year.

Each year the number of nominations grows, as more and more fans nominate their favorite artist or band. This year the Carolina Music Awards nominations period begins on February 16. Artists and their fans can make as many nominations as they would like, but they can only nominate each artist or band once. The end of the nomination period, scheduled for April 17, 2015, is followed by a brief break before voting begins on April 27, 2015. Voting ends on June 26 and winners are never made public until they are announced at the Carolina Music Awards, and all nominees are invited to attend as guests of the Carolina Music Awards.

“Over the past seven years we were graced with the presence of some amazing artists,” states Omar McCallop, producer of the Carolina Music Awards and founder of Award Show Nation, “The support we’ve received from music greats like Roberta Flack, Randy Travis, Darius Rucker and Petey Pablo is an honor and we’re proud they joined us to support and acknowledge Carolina music. We have had all types of nominees, from the independent artist to the Grammy nominated, and we have appreciated getting to know each and every one of them.”

New in 2014 and carrying over to 2015 was the idea of the compilation album for past award winners. The Carolina Music Awards team worked with CBM Records to put together the rock album, which will be released on January 13. Albums covering other award show categories, like R&B and bluegrass/Americana, are in the works.

Also new this year is the release in late spring of the edited footage for the 2013 Carolina Music Awards. The show will be released on the Streaming for Charity website, and provides the opportunity for the show to reach an even larger audience.

Tickets for the Carolina Music Awards will be available for purchase at the Duke Energy Box Office and online from Ticketmaster. The Carolina Music Awards is also actively seeking sponsors for the awards show.
