MIAMI - Jan. 6, 2015 - PRLog -- The earthquake that shook Haiti on January 12th, 2010 also shook our nation. The reports of lost lives, destroyed homes and businesses compelled many to action. Non-profits, global aid organizations, artists, actors, individuals all leaped into action. Resources from around the world poured into Haiti. Medical aid to clothing, the nation and the global community saw Haiti’s need and answered. In the five years since the earthquake, Haiti continues to face the challenge of rebuilding with a resolute constitution.

In 2011, CLOAK INC was approached to organize a physical March in Miami to commemorate the first year anniversary of the 7.0 earthquake that took over 300,000 lives in and around Haiti. After doing some preliminary research, CLOAK INC's CEO & Founder, Ebonie Mukasa, determined the logistics of a physical March were too complex. However, she did not want to give up the idea entirely. So, the idea of the virtual march was born. "The reach and power of technology, particularly social media, connects people instantly around the globe, it seemed like just the vehicle to propel the concept forward," says Ebonie.

Now in its fourth year, the Virtual March has become an anticipated online event for the social brand. Local artists and activists from across Miami-Dade and Broward county join together and tweet their sentiments of love, hope, and help for Haiti. Ebonie explains, “The March hour is electric! It is such an organic concept. We plan to allow it to evolve and become what it needs to be get the message of love, hope, and help out to the world."

This year CLOAK INC has expanded its reach to include Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. "We want to 'take-over' the Internet," says Dawn Mangham, Director of Communications and Community Outreach. "We want social media blanketed with information about Haiti so that people feel compelled to learn more about the country, its culture, and people. This is an opportunity for the world to see why its important to support a vibrant Haiti."

In May of 2013 CLOAK INC announced that is was refocusing its social initiative and joined the battle to end human/sex trafficking. Today, there are over 400,000 orphaned children living in Haiti. Many of these children were orphaned as a result of the 2010 earthquakes. The purpose of this year's March continues to be supporting organizations providing safety, care and education for these children. This year the social brand has set their marker high.  Their goal of raising $2,000 in support of this work and their continued efforts here in Miami makes this a worthy cause.
