PHOENIX - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Shade Projects is excited to present “Ol’ Blue Eyes is Back”, the solo exhibition of Fred Tieken and his return to Shade Gallery at the monOrchid. This exhibition will showcase Tieken’s latest artwork that highlights his interest in mixed media and reflects upon his busy year in 2014, which ended with a solo show at Aqua Art Miami. “This show will impress with Tieken’s engaging subject matter is inviting, powerful yet challenging, through his ability to layer imagery and text within a bold color palette, says Shade Projects Curator, Nicole Royse.

Fred Tieken currently divides his time between his two studios in Venice, California and Phoenix, Arizona. He paints full-time, creating glorious, colorful pieces that are often peppered with shrewd observations, wry social commentary and smart symbolism, reminiscent of Basquiat. He has exhibited his artwork extensively throughout Arizona and has recently branched out into the California market.

Opening Reception will be held on First Friday, February 6th 6-10pm. The Artist Reception will be held Third Friday, February 20th from 6-10pm. The evening will include a brief talk from the artist about his work and process, as well as a book signing of his recently self-published book “Selected Works by Fred Tieken” a stunning 96-page, hardbound, full color edition containing brilliant reproductions of 45 of the artist’s most popular Neo-Expressionist works, many of which now reside in private collections. “Ol’ Blue Eyes is Back” will be on display in Shade Gallery at the monOrchid from February 6th until February 28th, 2014.
