Star Cinema brings “EDSA Woolworth” to Philippine screens starting January 14

Pokwang starrer from TFC@theMovies kicks off Star Cinema’s 2015 movie line-up

SAN FRANCISCO - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- The second original feature film of TFC@theMovies that was the talk of the town among Filipino moviegoers of North America back in November 2014 will be shown in Philippine screens starting January 14.

ABS-CBN Star Cinema is bringing the much awaited, EDSA Woolworth, a story about love surrounding a blended Filipino American family that triggered conversation among movie-loving folks for its refreshing storyline, honest acting, and unforgettable soundtrack.

EDSA Woolworth is played by comedienne Pokwang who displays her acting depth and versatility anew in this family drama.  Playing Chad, her love interest, is American actor Lee O’Brian, who is joined by Steven Spohn as Papa Frank, Ricci Chan as EDSA’s younger brother Boni, Prince Saruhan as their adopted brother Paco, TFC’s Adobo Nation co-host Lee Robin Salazar as Patrick the lawyer, Princess Ryan as Shayne and Vivian Foz as her mom Norma, and Joji Isla as Rudy, Paco’s real dad.

The memorable, original Filipino American soundtrack is another aspect that distinguishes EDSA Woolworth.  Chan penned and performed, “Felt Like Love” while talents from the San Francisco-based Luna Company also delivered songs which are available on iTunes: “Dancing All Night Long” by Michelle Martinez, “Undone” by Manny Garcia, and “Dressing Room” by Summer Breeze.

“What our moviegoers in the Philippines will experience from watching EDSA Woolworth is an insight into the lives of the members of a blended Filipino American family – their needs, aspirations, ways of thinking and the culture they live in. This is a journey of discovery: travelling this road is an eye-opener for our folks living in the homeland on the way of life for many Filipinos in the U.S. We’re so delighted and grateful that Star Cinema is kicking off its 2015 movie line-up with this heartfelt offering from TFC@themovies,” said director and ABS-CBN Global Head of Theatricals John-D Lazatin.

EDSA Woolworth is the second feature from TFC@theMovies. In 2011, its first feature, A Mother’s Story surprised many with 18 nominations from the Filipino Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) in 2012. It was also adjudged Best Film at the 2012 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards (MAM) awarded by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.
