HOUSTON - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- The Big League Football Association (BLFA) is one of the largest Tackle Football Leagues in the state of Texas hosting over 40 youth teams this coming spring for their first official season.  The BLFA offers youth an opportunity and experience they cannot find anywhere else in the country offering a sound football program teaching teamwork, leadership, discipline and personal skills in a safe environment.

On Saturday, January 17 at 2pm, the BLFA will host their first combine and showcase at Houston Baptist University (Husky Field, 7502 Fondern Rd, Houston, TX 77074) allowing athletes ages 8-18 to show of their skills in series of skill set testing, one on one competition as well as showcase seven on seven sessions.  This combine is the only combine for the spring football season that the BLFA will kickoff this coming March.

“This is a great opportunity for the young athletes to come out and be able to showcase their skills to coaches, media and their peers,” says commissioner of the BLFA and former Houston Oiler, Steve Jackson.  “My brothers, John and Ed, came up with the idea to put together a league that could really take the opportunity for the young athletes to another level, and by having our season in the Spring, it also allows these athletes to compete and stay in shape year round.”

“I have coached for over 15 years and have coached my own sons through their years in little league football and I realized that if we were to create something that gave these kids competition, recognition and exposure on a higher level, it will allow them to have greater opportunity to improve on their skills along with taking their talents to the next level, which would be college,” states Founder, John Jackson.

The BLFA is in the process of becoming a 501C3 non-profit organization that will also be offering their players additional opportunities and events off the field such as tutoring sessions, SAT training programs, and community service programs where all players in the league will be required to have community service hours and eventually, scholarship programs for BLFA athletes.

The BIG League was founded and is ran by Ed Curtis, John Jackson and Steve Jackson.  The BLFA also offers City Championships on each level. On the 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels we have partnered up with leagues in Dallas and San Antonio to play Bowl Games and a State Championship Game with both leagues top teams each year.
