L.A. Wolves FC Kicks Off 2015 With 3-0 Win Over Santa Clarita Storm

TORRANCE, Calif. - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- January 5, 2014 – The L.A. Wolves FC (8-2-1) scored a 3-0 victory over division rival Santa Clarita Storm (0-1-4) as the two clubs meet Saturday night at Toyota Sports Complex in Torrance, Ca. The Wolves continued their winning ways and remained undefeated in their last eight league matches.

The first half for the Wolves did not start off with a bang as the Wolves went scoreless the entire half as it was the clubs first match in two weeks after a holiday break in the UPSL league schedule. To Santa Clarita’s credit, the Storm played a solid first half to keep the Wolves in check as the Storm, the newest club in the Western Conference, has been shaping as a formable opponent and it showed in the first half.

After a halftime break, the L.A. Wolves kicked it into gear with a solid second half performance that looked more like a first place team as the Wolves moved into a possession mode with an emphasis on getting on the score board. The goal finally came in the 55’ minute as L.A. Wolves Forward Andre Turoldo found the back of the net on a nice ball that was slipped in between two Storm defenders by Wolves Forward Luis Trujillo putting Turoldo one on one to slip the ball past the onrushing Storm keeper making it 1-0. The Wolves kept the pressure  on and in the 64’ minute off Wolves Midfielder Jonahthan Capareloi’s corner kick, the ball made it through a crowd in the box and landed on the foot of an on rushing Luis Trujillo who touched the ball into the back of the net making it 2-0 Wolves. The Wolves added a security goal in the 73’ minute off a questionable call by the referee off a throw in which led to a second goal by Trujuillo making the score 3-0 which is where the match would end.

Yan Skwara Head Coach of the L.A Wolves FC commented. “Tonight’s match was a good start to the second half of the season. The boys needed to refuel during the holidays and get their minds and bodies rejuvenated as this is the stretch run that they are going to need to be sharp moving forward in all aspects of their game. Santa Clarita played a good first half but we were able to get our rhythm in the second half and goals started to happen. We now have to get ready for Las Vegas as they are always tough to beat.
