Steadysun Launches Its New Sky Imager Sw-02 Camera

Steadysun’s new Sky Imager SW-02 camera renders its technologies even easier to implement. The stronger but lighter camera (3kg) is designed to resist the worst conditions and tests have demonstrated its resistance of -40° and +85° Celsius.

Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- This has strengthened Steadysun’s capacity to acquire data that has rarely been used before and takes the immediate surroundings of each solar generation site into account, thus continuing the company’s mission to supply exceptionally precise solar production forecasts.

This precision is the real advantage that Steadysun brings to the market. Its innovation is in consolidating data from different sources (camera, satellite, meteorological models) on quite different scales of time and space. Through its research, Steadysun transforms this data into tools that assist solar plant and electricity network managers in their decision making.

Steadysun is therefore providing a unique service that ensures that solar production is used to better effect on power grids. The company’s market is Europe (Spain, Germany, Italy…), as well as America (USA, Chile, Mexico) and Asia (China, India) where the use of solar energy is increasing dramatically.

Context: Why is precision in solar power forecasting so crucial?
The technical challenge is that solar energy, variable by definition, has to be integrated into power grids that are stable by definition.
In the years to come, any additional precision in forecasting will encourage the development of the solar industry since increased reliability facilitates a generalised integration of solar energy in the energy mix. In 2050, solar energy will probably be the world’s no. 1 source of energy according to the International Energy Agency’s (IEA) 2014 report. 10% of Germany’s energy is already solar. Most countries are changing their regulations to encourage a much greater use of solar energy. Improving solar production forecasting quality plays a major role in improving its integration on a major scale.

About Steadysun:
STEADYSUN is a startup of 8 associates founded in 2013 by Xavier Le Pivert with backing from the CEA (Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission) and the INES (National Institute of Solar Energy) and, more recently, from KIC InnoEnergy.
The company provides extremely precise solar production forecasts. Production forecasting is one of the main processes in the development of solar energy worldwide.
