HOLDEN, Mass. - Jan. 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Today marks Woodmeister Master Builders 35th anniversary. Started in 1980 as a two-man millwork shop in Worcester, MA, Woodmeister is now a multi-million dollar corporation with over 100 employees.  In addition to its 70,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Holden, the company has offices in Boston, New York City, Nantucket, and Stowe, VT.

"It's been a remarkable journey," said Ted Goodnow, Woodmeister’s Founder and CEO, reflecting on the past 35 years. "We started with the commitment to do exceptional work and build architectural legacies that truly delight. In return, our clients bestowed their trust in us and our success as a company is a testament to the extraordinary client relationships we've made over the years."

"Our employees have a great passion for collaboration and craftsmanship," added Kim Goodnow, President and Chief Culture Officer. "Their loyalty and belief in our company has helped facilitate our growth and provide unique opportunities for us to do what we love. Working together with our business partners, adapting our business to respond to changing client needs and industry challenges has been a key factor to our success."

A Unique Corporate Culture

Ted Goodnow along with his wife and business partner, Kim, conceived a corporate culture that fosters leadership at all levels, personal and professional advancement, and a new generation of skilled craftsmen.  The Goodnows believe that life-long learning – and mentoring – is essential for success as individuals and as a company. They have implemented and inspired many programs over the years at the company, such as the Next Level Leadership Program, a year-long employee coaching program designed to develop leadership skills throughout the company.  This program gives employees the training and tools they need to be successful in their jobs and to help each other through mentoring.

Award-winning Workplace

Over the years, Woodmeister has been recognized with many prestigious awards and honors. Most recently in 2014, the company was awarded gold and silver honors at the Builder and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston’s P.R.I.S.M. (Prestigious Results in Sales and Marketing) ceremony. Woodmeister has also been awarded gold and silver honors at the annual P.R.I.S.M. ceremonies since 2005.

Woodmeister was presented with the Best of Houzz 2014, the third year in a row for that distinction. In 2011, the company was presented with Mentor of the Year MIDDIES (Mentors in Design) award by Design New England. In 2009, the company was named a 'Top Small Workplace' by The Wall Street Journal and Winning Workplaces, a non-profit organization that helps small and mid-size companies improve their workplace practices.

In addition, the company received the Boston Globe’s Globe 100’s Top Places to Work awards.  In June 2009, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) presented its distinguished Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (S.H.A.R.P.) award to Woodmeister for demonstrating exemplary commitment to workplace safety and health. The Worcester Business Journal named Woodmeister its Corporate Citizen of the Year in 2007.

Classic Entrepreneurial Success Story

The Woodmeister story is a classic tale of entrepreneurial spirit and achievement. While most of his friends went off to college, seventeen-year old Ted Goodnow pursued his dream of becoming a craftsman and completed a two-year apprenticeship with a custom office furniture and cabinetmaker.  Goodnow then convinced his parents to give him the money they had set aside for his college education so that he could start a woodworking business.  For the next thirty five years, Goodnow and his wife, Kim, embraced the business model of blending Old World craftsmanship with innovative building technologies to create the finest homes and interiors possible.
