Gurgaon Solar ready to meet demand for compulsory rooftop solar in Haryana

GURGAON, India - Jan. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- The state government of Haryana has decided to give the biggest push for rooftop solar power in India. Under the new order released, it would be mandatory for all buildings on plot size of 500 square yards or more to install rooftop solar power systems by September 2015.

This mandate will be applicable on private bungalows, group housing societies, builder apartments, malls, offices, commercial complexes, schools, hospitals — any building, new or old, that meets the plot size criteria.

The minimum solar power capacity to be installed is 1 kilo Watt or 5% of a building's connected load, whichever is higher.

Tarun Khurana, partner at Gurgaon Solar, has said that the company is already in talks with most major builders in the area to help them understand the new norms and ensure that provisions are made in to allow all new and existing buildings to accommodate the mandated solar installation capacity.
