Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, widely considered one of the greatest painters of all time, once said Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen. In Prelude to the horizon , a collection of poetry by debut poets Monami Ghosh & Arindam Mallick, it is this that they aspire to with the horizon as their limit, they paint word pictures steeped in love, loss, joy, pain, memory, yearning, bitterness, chaos, ageing, impermanence & a multitude of other emotions that are very much at the heart of being human. Be it the transitory nostalgia for childhood, the falling apart of familiar worlds or the fear of final pretensions, the wonderful sensitivity of their poetry leaves on the readers an impassioned resonance that is timeless. The book also has a collaborative section featuring poems that Monami & Arindam have written together which provides a wonderful potpourri of their varying styles of writing. At its core, Prelude to the horizon is a compelling & honest exploration of all that often gets lost between the heart and the pen, making it an absorbing work.
