INDIANAPOLIS - Dec. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- INDIANAPOLIS, IN (December 31st, 2014) MMY Consulting, Inc. (MMY) a provider of information technology consulting services announced its charitable donations for 2014. On an annual basis, MMY surveys its Associates seeking nominations of organizations that they feel are worthy causes. The top recommendations receive a donation from MMY on behalf of the nominating Associate.

“We received awesome nominations of charitable organizations from team members interested in supporting causes near and dear to their heart. It made the committee's job of selecting the top five really tough!! Every single nomination was very deserving. We are very fortunate to be in the position that we are able to help these charities. The work that is performed by these organizations is incredible. We are thrilled to do our small part”, said Bill Monachino, President.

Based on input from MMY staff, there were the five very deserving organizations selected:

American Diabetes Association  - As an individual who has diabetes and who has seen first hand the effects this disease has on people, the American Diabetes Association is very important to me.  Diabetes is quickly turning into an epidemic in this country.  And it's one disease that makes those with it more susceptible to other severe or deadly complications like heart disease, stroke, kidney failure, loss of limbs and blindness.

The American Diabetes Association is an organization that is fighting the deadly consequences of diabetes through research, education about the disease & patient advocacy.  Their vision:  Life free of diabetes and all its burdens.

26.2 With Donna - Finish Breast Cancer - My cousin, Kim, died of breast cancer two years ago, leaving a 14 year old daughter and husband.  She was a very vibrant young woman until her illness.  Kim ran every year in the Donna Marathon until her death.  Her family continues today to support the marathon,

26.2 with Donna is a private nonprofit organization in Northeast Florida whose mission is to produce world class events dedicated exclusively to raise funds to end breast cancer. One hundred percent of raised funds and race proceeds for all 26.2 with Donna events go to breast cancer research and care. Since its inaugural year in 2008, 26.2 with Donna has contributed close to $3.5 million to its beneficiaries. Seventy percent (70%) of proceeds go to the Mayo Clinic for bench top breast cancer research. Thirty percent (30%) of proceeds go to The Donna Foundation to help breast cancer patients with critical financial needs.

Child Advocates (CASA) of Marion County - Child Advocates engages community volunteers and staff to protect children who are victims of child abuse. They are their voices in court, ensuring all children thrive in a safe and secure home. Donations allow for the recruitment, training and support of 400+ court-appointed advocate volunteers each year. Those volunteers will be assigned to the cases of children in custody of the State – serving a critical role in ensuring that no child slips through the cracks of an overburdened system. They’ll see to it that each child is given the rights and opportunities he or she deserves while in care. They’ll serve as a dedicated set of eyes and ears to a juvenile court judge who will ultimately decide the permanent placement for a child. Maybe most importantly, they’ll be a ‘constant’ in a child’s life during this unstable, and often scary, time.

LOMIK - Lutheran Outdoor Ministriesis an independent church camp organization that serves 1200 children every summer. Three separate camps in Indiana are open to kids of all denominations and ethnic backgrounds. No child is turned away due to financial constraints. Christ-centered ministry can have a significant, positive life- long impact on campers who participate in the week long programs. The experience for kids at LOMIK camps addresses all aspects of growing up in a place where their feelings are respected, they know they are listened to and cared about in a safe and open environment.

This organization has always provided a safe, loving place for kids to grow as individuals and feel like part of a family. My own children benefited tremendously from this and took valuable lessons away from the camp experience that could not have been taught in a classroom. A donation will offer the camp experience to kids who could not otherwise afford to attend.

Gleaners Food Bank - There are many families going without food and the numbers continue to increase.  Food is a necessity that we can't do without.  Since 1980, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana has led the way in the fight against hunger by securing, storing and redistributing food to some 350 relief sites across central and southeast Indiana. They serve families, friends and neighbors including the working poor and unemployed, single parents, struggling elderly, homeless veterans and more.
