Follow on Google News | Weekly Challenge Makes a Healthy 2015 a BreezeMy Body Village Asks Children & Families to Make Commitment to Health
By: My Body Village Some healthy New Year’s resolutions suggested by the American Academy of Pediatrics include healthy habits like brushing teeth twice a day, and washing hands after going to the bathroom. For older kids, some suggestions are drinking water every day, drinking soda and fruit drinks only as special treats, eating fruits and vegetables daily, and practicing the idea of taking a break with things like reading or exercise when they feel stressed.1 These are some examples of the types of challenges that will appear on the My Body Village Weekly Challenge over the course of the year. The earlier a child begins healthy habits, the more likely they are to grow into healthy adults. A Harvard University study suggests, “Health in the earliest years…lays the groundwork for a lifetime of well-being.” One way to encourage this early development is to practice strengthening healthy choices as a family. Thus, exposing children to wellness through health education, and reinforcing the closeness of family relationship by practicing these New Year’s Resolutions together. Premiering January 1st 2015, the My Body Village Weekly Challenge, on MyBodyVillage.com, encourages a new healthy habit every week, and provides a chart to track progress, which can be turned in to receive a prize for a job well done. It asks children and parents to make a commitment to their health. Getting children to make healthy choices is not always easy, but it is easier to achieve if the child is an active participant in this effort. An easy way for parents to implement a healthy New Year’s Resolution for their children for 2015 would be to set the goal to complete every task on the My Body Village Weekly Challenge throughout the year.
