High Tech Ground Penetrating Radar Identifies Buried Oil Tanks Abandoned Decades Ago !

Oil tank sweeps using Wand" metal detectors may miss sand filled tanks. Ground Penetrating Radar provides a screen view of all buried metallic and non metallic objects.

BORDENTOWN, N.J. - Dec. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Many home buyers do not understand the technical differences between Metal Detectors and Ground Penetrating Radar. Metal detectors can only see metal object less than 2 feet below the ground and only provides a beep when metal objects are located. Ground Penetrating Radar ( GPR) can identify buried metallic and non metallic objects down to a depth of 18 feet. Sink holes, plastic pipe, concrete septic systems, buried tanks can be identified and viewed on a screen providing a image to buyers. Many heating oil companies do possess this advance technology and property buyers can be fooled.  Ground Penetrating Radar can also identify ground disturbances indicating a previous heating oil tank removal. Also no tank sweep is complete without extra cost soil borings to identify if contaminated soil exists on the property.  Sand filled tanks that were modified during closure will be missed by the 'Wand" metal detector. Environmental Systems, established in 1993, has been providing tank locating, removal and remediation services in New Jersey for over 20 years.  Environmental Systems also provides Licensed Site Remediation Professional services for oversite of residential heating oil and commercial gasoline and diesel fuel tanks.
