SALT LAKE CITY - Dec. 29, 2014 - PRLog -- Legacy Equipment Company announced the recent hiring of John Webster as the organization’s general manager.

Webster, a long-time fleet director for Salt Lake County, was nominated three times (2011, 2012, 2014) for the Public Sector Manager of the Year and will apply the experience he gained in county public works to providing tailor-made service at Legacy Equipment.

“With all the years I spent with the county, I know exactly what people on the client side need and want. I am so pleased to be with a company that has the resources and structure to provide that top-notch sales and service like we do here at Legacy,” said Webster, who had been a customer of the company since the mid-1990s.

Legacy Equipment is the leading supplier of street sweepers, sewer cleaning equipment, refuse trucks, mechanic trucks, and snow removal equipment in the Intermountain West. The company represents premier brands such as Elgin Sweeper Co., E.D. Etnyre Co., Elliott Equipment Co., Heil, Iowa Mold & Tool Co., Oshkosh, Stellar Industries, Swenson Spreader, TBEI, Wausau-Everest, and Vactor Manufacturing. The company also rents hydroexcavators, industrial vacuum trucks, sewer cleaning trucks, and other specialized equipment.

“We are thrilled to have someone like John to help direct the growth of Legacy Equipment at this exciting time in our company’s history. He has the background, intelligence and vision we need to help us become known as the best outfitter in the region,” Legacy Equipment Company President John LeRoy said.

As Fleet Director for Salt Lake County, Webster identified $20.2 million in excess fund balances and returned it to the county coffers. While enacting efficiencies and centralizing fleet management, Webster helped reduce the annual county operational budget by $4 million. He also received a P2 environmental award for taking the department from violation status to conditional exempt.

“I always asked myself how taxpayers would feel if they saw how their money was spent. We strived to have an effective and transparent organization. We apply the same principles here at Legacy so we can give the customer the best value and service possible by spending our time and resources in the right places,” Webster said.

The good part of moving from the public to the private sector for Webster is the drastic reduction of red tape and bureaucracy.

“I love working at Legacy because I can focus on our customers and our product and service offerings. It’s all about how to help clients do their job as well as possible,” Webster said.
