Dr Austin attends "Working With the Pros" Seminar - St. Louis Cardinals

VIRDEN, Ill. - Dec. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Todd W. Austin, D.C. from Austin Family Chiropractic in Virden, IL recently attended the "Working With the Pros" Sports Injury Seminar at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO.  The seminar was put on by Dr. Ralph Filson and Dr. Alex Vidan, the official team Chiropractors of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, along with Brad Henderson, ATC who has been a head athletic trainer for both the St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Pirates in the past.

The seminar covered dealing with a wide range of sports related injuries including back and neck issues, headaches, concussions, knee, shoulder, hip, elbow, foot, ankle and wrist injuries.  The doctors also shared some of their personal stories about working with the Cardinals players, coaches and managers over the years.

Dr. Filson was one of the doctors who originally taught Dr. Austin to adjust back at Logan College in the early 1990's.  Filson has since gone on to work with the Cardinals as team chiropractor under 3 managers (Joe Torre, Tony LaRussa & Mike Matheny).  Filson also did chiropractic work with the New York Yankees when Joe Torre was their Manager.  Filson has 2006 and 2011 World Series Champs rings with the Cardinals.

Dr. Vidan joined the Cardinals staff more recently.  He won a 2011 World Series Championship ring with the Redbirds.  Both doctors passed out their rings for the other chiropractors in attendance to try on and take pictures of.

Dr. Austin, Filson & Vidan are all Logan College graduates.  All have worked on staff at one time or another with leading concussion expert Dr. Wendell Becton, M.D. who now practices in Springfield, IL.  Becton was a team M.D. for the Redbirds from 2007 through 2013 and won a World Series ring himself in 2011.  Becton wrote the concussion guidelines which the Cardinals still use.  Austin has been the Official Team D.C. of the Springfield Foxes for the past 4 seasons where he performs chiropractic, cold laser therapy, stretching and advanced taping techniques for the players and coaches.  In 2013, Dr. Becton was an integral member of the Foxes sideline healthcare staff as well.   Dr. Todd has also been an Associate Member of the Pro Football Chiropractic Society since 2011.  Todd and his wife, Licensed Massage Therapist Eugena Austin, will be entering their 5th season with the Foxes beginning in May 2015.
