Leadership Mistakes: Miracle Moment by Bishop Ricky Sinclair

Daily Devotional written by Bishop Ricky Sinclair of Miracle Place Church located in Baker, LA. Founder of Sinclair World Ministries.

BAKER, La. - Dec. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Jeroboam, king of Israel, walked in insecurity and a lack of trust in God. The 12 tribe kingdom is split at this time with 10 tribes under Jeroboam and the separated tribes of Judah and Benjamin under the rule of Rehoboam. The 10 tribes wanted to go to Jerusalem to worship with Judah and Benjamin. King Jeroboam makes major leadership mistakes. He says in his heart, “If I let the people go to Jerusalem and worship then I will lose them.” We must never seek to hold people back from worshiping the true and living God. (I Kings 12:26-27)

King Jeroboam took counsel. (I Kings 12:28) When we receive counsel it must be from people who can hear God’s voice. King Jeroboam built two golden calves. (I Kings 12:28) We never want to do anything without God’s leading and absolutely never an idol (golden calves) to lead people away from God. Jeroboam stubbornly rebelled against God’s Word when God warned him about idol worship. (I Kings 13:4) As a result, God judged King Jeroboam and Israel and they were under a curse until Jeroboam died.

King Jeroboam appointed the lowest of the people. (I Kings 12:31) A good leader understands that everything rises or falls with leadership. As we look at King Jeroboam we can take his mistakes and use them as lessons for things we never want to fall into.

PRAYER:

Lord, today I pray You will fill me with Your wisdom and discernment. Help me to hear Your voice so that I make godly decisions. I choose to follow only God ideas and not just good ideas. Lord, Your Word says the steps of a righteous man are ordered of You. I pray You continue to order my steps. To You I give all glory, honor and praise. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior. Amen.
