Follow on Google News | Jewelry Store Keeps Christmas Special Going Long Past Black FridayBy: Barrons Fine Jewelry “Buying any type of fine diamond jewelry is a process that nobody should rush into,” said Lesya Harris, jewelry consultant for Barron’s Fine Jewelry. “In many cases, this is going to be the most special and expensive gift a person buys during the holiday season, so it is something we want to make sure they feel comfortable with. Buying a big screen television because it’s cheap is fine. The same doesn’t hold true when it comes to buying Christmas jewelry.” Harris says that many customers often visit two or three times before they make a purchase and that is not just for holiday presents. Even those who are in the market for solitaire engagement rings and other bridal jewelry will take their time, and that is something Harris and her staff encourages. She pointed out that, unlike other instances of comparison shopping, it is less about the person thinking there is a better deal out there somewhere and more about them recognizing just how important this purchase is. “Often times, if we have a customer who tells us it is their first time looking at engagement rings and they decide to make a purchase that day, we encourage them to think it over,” Harris said. “We put the ring they chose on hold for them, but more often than not, when they come back, they usually have something a little different in mind: a different setting, a different cut. Always, though, they thank us for the suggestion.” That isn’t to say they don’t offer a Christmas special for their customers to rival some of the discounts people have come to expect from other retailers during holiday time. Instead they run their Christmas special for the entire month. Besides, unlike other stores who try to beat the rush by starting their Black Friday on Thanksgiving Thursday, owner Nanji Singadia pointed out they don’t even open on Thanksgiving, so their staff can enjoy the holiday with their families.
