Acura to Debut 2016 NSX Supercar in DetroitThe second generation of the famous NSX will make its world premiere at the North American International Auto Show.
By: Chicagoland Acura Dealers Though Acura has kept quite a bit of the information under wraps, a few things have come out ahead of the release, including the basis for the new hybrid powertrain. It's expected to be a 3.5L V6 paired with as many of three electric motors to help get the most out of Acura's Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system like that found on select RLX models. The first-gen NSX had no trouble taking on the top supercars on the market, and it's expected that the new model will take on vehicles like the Audi R8, Lamborghini Huracá After the vehicle's debut in Detroit, it is expected that the 2016 NSX will be launching in late 2015, bringing to an end a years-long wait for fans of the original model. For those unaware of the original NSX, it was a Honda model made available across the world, but bearing the Acura nameplate in the North American and Hong Kong markets. One of the few supercars to embrace the mid-engine design that placed the powertrain between the seats and the rear axle for optimum performance, the NSX very quickly earned its fans. This two-door sport coupe offered up nearly 300 hp, and was one of the most popular vehicles on the road for nearly 15 years. It's been almost a decade since it was discontinued, and the upcoming 2016 NSX will hopefully give drivers a new, affordable supercar option just like the old model did.
