Wives Behind the Badge Inc. Announces H.A.L.O.S. Staff Changes

Dec. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- H.A.L.O.S. (Helping Aid Lost Officers’ Survivors) serves as an important part of the Wives Behind the Badge, Inc. mission.  Throughout the organization, volunteers are responsible for various areas of coordination to ensure each and every officer lost or injured is honored through this program.

Each H.A.L.O.S. Coordinator is responsible for sending a condolence cards for Off Duty Death, Line of Duty Injury, and family or department emergencies. These individuals work with the auxiliary directors and H.A.L.O.S. liaisons in states they have been assigned. They assist when needed during critical incidents to ensure these states have assistance from the national level if needed.

We are proud to announce that Lindsay Perrine will step in to serve as East Coast H.A.L.O.S. Coordinator, effective immediately.  H.A.L.O.S. Director Melisa Cross shares that “While I am saddened over Jan’s decision, she, like many other staff members, holds multiple positions within WBTB and has decided to put her energy into her positions as Director of the West Virginia Auxiliary and member of the Board of Directors.  I am equally pleased that Lindsay will step in to serve in this important position.”

To date, 90 cards have been sent and 479 trees planted through Arbor Day in honor of Line of Duty Deaths for 2014 for the eastern states.  A tree is planted for each year of service an officer has given prior to his or her death. Additionally, there is a ten-tree minimum, therefore, any officer serving less than 10 years, will have ten trees planted in his or her honor.
