Miracle Moment by Ricky Sinclair: Peace of Mind

I Kings 8:1-66; Acts 7:51-8:13; Psalm 128:1-6; Proverbs 16:31-33

"Better a dry crust with peace than a house full of feasting and strife." (Proverbs 17:1)

Personally, I would take a peaceful home over riches and beauty any day of the week. Who really wants to live like that, constant turmoil and bickering? Uh, come on. If achieving and maintaining success in a high-stress business and/or a relationship with a beautiful but shallow person is killing you, then have you really attained anything. I know many people who have gotten caught up in the rat race. When they slow down and think about it they have many regrets, they long for a simpler time.

If you find yourself in this position, take steps to gain some peace of mind. Start by simplifying your life. Knock out things you don't really need but are just sucking the life out of you. If you are dating a person of strife drop them, do not wait, let them go. Let someone else pick up the therapy bill. Better to be alone than with the wrong person. You'll struggle the rest of your life. If you are currently married to one, then do your best to be honest with them about changes that you'd like to see take place in your home. I pray God will touch their heart and yours to help you both overcome any obstacles. Know things probably won't change overnight but stay consistent and change will come.

If you have a chaotic child, talk to them and state you aren't going to feed the cyclone anymore. No more catering to their whims, the world does not revolve around them. It you don't do this, you are not doing them any favors. The world doesn't owe them anything and they will soon see.

And that high pressure job, I know beggars can't be choosey but start downsizing in your life. Live within your means because most of your pressure is coming from having to have that large income to maintain everything. If you have prepared yourself, you'll be able to snag that dream job should the door open, even if it pays a little less. If you have no choice about your job, then be the best you can be. Challenge yourself. When our heart is thrown into something it becomes better.

God wants to bless us but we have to follow the wisdom found in His Word. There are simple truths and examples of others successes and failures throughout the Bible that can really guide us through. I'm praying for God to really meet us where we are and help us to grow into the people He has designed us to be.

PRAYER:

Lord, open the eyes of my understanding. Help me to see any areas of my life that can be modified in order to relieve some of the stress I feel. Please touch my family's hearts so that they can move forward with me. I break the spirit of busyness and pressure off of myself and those around me. I choose to relax and live in peace in Christ. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
