ADCs in ASICs: an Overview for System Designers - Embedded World, 24th–26th February 2015, Stand 4A 535
By: SWINDON Silicon Systems

WOOTTON BASSETT, U.K. - Dec. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- SWINDON Silicon Systems’ ASICs are an essential component in many applications from automobile safety systems to industrial controls.

A wide variety of industries now use SWINDON ASICs for factory automation, industrial control systems, sensor interfaces and instrumentation.  One of the most important elements of any sensor interface is the Analogue to Digital Converter (ADC) which takes the continuous analogue signal from a sensor – for example pressure, level or temperature – and converts it into a digital format to be used elsewhere in the ASIC. SWINDON’s Mike Coulson, whose Oxford DPhil was in Analogue CMOS Design, is a specialist in ADCs and will be presenting “ADCs in ASICs: an Overview for System Designers” at the Embedded World Conference on Wednesday 25th February 2015.

With the growth of the use of ASICs in sensor applications, the advantages of on-chip ADCs are clear.  Mike will outline the benefits to system designers in terms of cost, power and size, and explain why, for the vast majority of industrial and automotive applications, an integrated ADC is now the system architecture of choice.
