LEXINGTON, Ky. - Dec. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- LEXINGTON, KY – In honor of the holiday season, Triple Threat Marketing’s team of advertising professionals donated to the Toys for Tots program. The firm’s director of operations discussed options for giving back to the community for the holidays.

“For the team at Triple Threat Marketing, finding causes to support and giving back to our community is one of the most important ways that we establish ourselves as a valuable member of the community,” declared Trey, the firm’s director of operations. “We’re really excited about being able to support the Toys for Tots program here in Lexington. Not only is it a great cause, but it’s an amazing organization as well.”

Trey discussed his respect for the group, and shed some light on the program’s mission. “About 13 million children live in poverty, and there are a number of studies that show that living in poverty has a wide range of negative impacts on a child’s development. Two of the major issues that Toys for Tots tries to counteract are low self-esteem and hopelessness.”

By sharing toys with disadvantaged children, Marine Corps men and women get the chance to change the path a girl or boy might choose. “Kids know who the Marines are, and while they don’t know the specifics, they know Marines are tough. The children respect that; and they respect that these tough people are sharing toys with them for the holidays.”

Suggestions for Volunteer Opportunities from Triple Threat Marketing’s Director

“Consumers are connected and savvy these days, and they don’t just want to spend money; they want to feel like they are doing something good with it as well,” explained Trey. “A business that engages in philanthropy will have a distinct edge over their competitors who do not.” He listed several benefits that civic-minded organizations had over their less socially-conscious counterparts. Their leaders seemed more human, for example, creating customer trust and loyalty. Giving back also provides opportunities to connect on an emotional level with the community in which a business operates.

For business leaders looking to get involved, Trey suggests the following. First, look into sponsoring a community organization. “These groups are always struggling to find financing, and it doesn’t always take a lot of money to make a big difference.” Also he says that pooling efforts with other businesses could lead to a fundraising event that provides excellent exposure for all involved.

“A business could even donate a portion of their sales for a certain period of time as well. If you choose this option, select a charity that aligns in some way with your business or your personal values. If you put the affiliation on your website, customers will know that by supporting you they are supporting a good cause.”
