Wash Your Car After Rain, Expert Says

LOS ANGELES - Dec. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- The recent rain might have been good news for the long California drought but experts warn that rainwater is not good for your car and that a trip to a local car wash should be a top priority.

According to Patricia Knott, owner of the Green Forest chain of car washes, you should wash your car immediately after a rainfall and be sure and use a car wash that has energy efficient, water saving features because the drought isn't over yet!

"Even after a short rainfall, rainwater and pollutants collect on your car," said Ms. Knott.  "When the rain water evaporates, a thin layer of pollutants is left, damaging your car’s finish.  The longer you leave the pollutants and contamination on your car, the more damage it will inflict on your car's paint finish."

Ms. Knott added that when you factor in the warm California sun, you have an even bigger problem as the pollutants get baked on the car's finish.

"It's best to go to a car wash as soon as the rain stops," she said.  "Besides, most car washes including the Green Forest Car washes issue rain checks so there's no downside in case it rains, again, within seven days."
