Follow on Google News | Multi-Monitor Desk and Workstation Kits Introduced by Fitz KitsA modifiable, modular workspace that’s more than meets the eye
By: Fitz Kits Modular System Makes Building Like Playing The kits are based on the Fitz Kits system, a variety of modular steel poles and joints that fit together and tighten with a single hex wrench. This means that putting them together, and making your own furniture, equipment, etc. is like playing with grown-up Tinkertoys. The poles have a thick plastic resin coating that comes in different colors and strengths to give variety to what you can build. Users can make pipe furniture-style structures but without the painting, threading, etc. they’d otherwise need to do. Kits to Make it Simpler “A lot of users felt like they needed a jumping-off point when building with the system,” said Cody Wilmer, developer of the kits. “It’s like looking at a blank page. Sometimes it helps to have a foundation to start with, which is what we wanted to provide with these kits.” There are “DIY” versions for the more handy, that include a frame and hardware, they can be finished with wood from a hardware store, or a kit that includes everything for a complete desk. Developed by a Community The company was started last year by Wilmer, a caterer who had built equipment for his business using “lean manufacturing” Fitz Kits is a small business located in Fredericksburg, VA that operates primarily online. It was founded in 2013 and provides equipment and materials for home, business and education use. End
