NEEDHAM, Mass. - Dec. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- The Virtual High School (http://www.theVirtualHighSchool.org), a non-profit empowering schools with the industry’s best online learning programs, today announced they have sponsored a groundbreaking new study from OESIS Group, a professional development and research organization for independent schools. The survey of more than 450 private school administrators and teachers found that more than half of schools nationwide are using blended learning programs with nearly 20% in advanced stages of adoption.

The report, OESIS Learning Innovation Report on U.S. Independent Schools 2014-2015, analyzed technology-enabled learning amongst private, K-12 schools. Key findings from the report discovered that 65% of schools are using different methods of blended learning, such as Flipped Classrooms, to personalize their instruction. The primary benefits cited by schools include accessing better content beyond standard textbook sources and creating time to personalize student instruction. In addition, the report found that schools are increasingly attracted to online learning because of its ability to foster college prep learning goals of creativity and critical thinking through pathways, such as project-based learning.

“For The Virtual High School, this validated the need to provide more extensive services focused on professional development and best practices,” said Jeffrey A. Elliott, President & CEO of VHS. “We see this as an opportunity for us to help private schools reach their full potential with blended and online learning.”
