China Approved and Published Amendments on Material Labeling of Standards for Certain Bags

On 14 October 2014, the Notice of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology approved amendments for 2 standards, No.1 amendment note for QB/T 1333-2010 and No.1 amendment note for QB/T 2155-2010
 
HONG KONG, China - Dec. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The amendment notes mainly revise Clause 4.4 identification of the 2 standards.

Clause 4.4 of QB/T 1333-2010 on Material Labeling of Handbag and Knapsack

Revised content in the amendment:

The material labeling should meet the below specifications:
- Based on the specification in 3.1, if in a product the area of a single type of surface material is above 20% of the total surface area of all surface materials, it should be labeled.
- If above 90% of the surface material is using top grain leather (excluding top grain transfer coated leather), ‘genuine leather’ can be labeled.
- Materials of split leather should be clearly indicated with wordings ‘split’.
- For materials with multiple compositions, if thickness of the leather base is no more than 60% of the total thickness, it cannot be labeled as ‘leather’. If thickness of the leather base is no more than 60% of the total thickness, and the surface is only with finishing treatment or transfer coating treatment (including finishing after transfer coating), the material can be labeled as ‘super-thick coated material’ or ‘super-thick transfer coated material’.

Corresponding contents in the original standard:

- Material name, labeling and materials used in the products should be consistent.
- Based on the specification in 3.1, if in a product the area of a single type of surface material is above 20% of the total surface area of all surface materials, it should be labeled.
- If above 90% of the surface material is using top grain leather (excluding top grain transfer coated leather), ‘genuine leather’ can be labeled.
- Materials of transfer coated leather or split leather should be clearly indicated with wordings such as ‘transfer coated’, ‘split’ etc.
- For materials with multiple compositions, if thickness of the leather base is no more than 60% of the total thickness, it cannot be labeled as ‘leather’.

Clause 4.4 of QB/T 2155-2010 on Material Labeling of Travelling Case and Trolley Bag

Revised content in the amendment:

The material labeling should meet the below specifications:
- The main outer body materials shall be labeled, if decorative material does not exceed 20% of surface area, it need not be labeled.
- If above 90% of the surface material is using top grain leather (excluding top grain transfer coated leather), ‘genuine leather’ can be labeled.
- Materials of split leather should be clearly indicated with wordings ‘split’.
- For materials with multiple compositions, if thickness of the leather base is no more than 60% of the total thickness, it cannot be labeled as ‘leather’. If thickness of the leather base is no more than 60% of the total thickness, and the surface is only with finishing treatment or transfer coating treatment (including finishing after transfer coating), the material can be labeled as ‘super-thick coated material’ or ‘super-thick transfer coated material’.
