SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Dec. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Sacramento, California — 12/17/2014 — NorCal Services for Deaf & Hard of Hearing is proud to announce its 5th consecutive CARF International Accreditation for our Supported Employment Program. This three-year accreditation represents NorCal Services for Deaf & Hard of Hearing’s commitment to providing the highest quality of services based on rigorous peer review.

The Supported Employment Program at NorCal Services for Deaf & Hard of Hearing is a cost-free support system designed around the employment needs of deaf and hard of hearing individuals with developmental disabilities. The program’s specialized employment services include job placement, training, and on the job coaching. To provide on-going support the program meets with employers to discuss individual workplace needs including communication access and other long term follow ups.

During an on-site survey, representatives from CARF were able to note several strengths in the Supported Employment Program’s high record of successful employment. Deaf consumers and their families are happy with employment choices and the continued long-term support from the Supported Employment Program. Employers express their satisfaction in the Supported Employment Program’s ability to provide on-going support for both the employer and consumer. The survey also commended NorCal Services for Deaf & Hard of Hearing for our respect in the community and our commitment to employing deaf and hard of hearing staff, or hearing staff with backgrounds in American Sign Language and deaf culture, that can anticipate the specific employment needs of consumers.
